BARENTHAL BRITISH CEMETERY

Raccoglie 126 Caduti identificati del Commonwealth appartenenti alle truppe del XIV Corpo della British Expeditionary Force che combatterono fra Asiago e Canove dal marzo 1918, in particolare durante la disperata offensiva Austroungarica del 15 giugno 1918 quando le linee alleate furono infrante per oltre un chilometro di profondità per poi essere riprese il giorno successivo. Il Cimitero è gestito direttamente dalla Commonwealth Graves Commission e considerato a tutti gli effetti territorio britannico: per volere della madrepatria, le salme di tutti i 1.024 Caduti dell’Impero Britannico in questa zona del fronte non sono infatti mai state traslate. Il cimitero del Barenthal è ubicato vicino alle vestigia del vecchio ospedale militare da campo che sono ancora visitabili. Per raggiungerlo dalla vecchia stazione ferroviaria di Asiago procedere in direzione Bassano del Grappa; dopo 2,5 km girare a destra per Rifugio Granezza. Prendere la prima a sinistra dopo 300 metri, e poi girare a destra dopo altri 100 metri. Il cimitero si trova sulla sinistra dopo 1,8 km.
